Para esto vivo, para descubrir canciones como las que contiene The Talk, el primer EP de South Of Eden. Aquí está una de las razones principales de por qué existe Música y Oxígeno, para dar a conocer temas que con toda sinceridad merecen ser escuchados por la mayor cantidad de personas que sea posible. Esta producción es una maravilla, simple y sencillamente. Tenemos un rock clásico que también tomó inspiración del hard rock de finales de la década de 1980, un poco de blues y algo más de los comienzos del grunge, a eso le añadieron una generosa dosis de diversión y junto con la magnífica manera que tienen para interpretar sus instrumentos, obtenemos como resultado música pegadiza y con un ritmo cautivador. Al frente está la voz de Ehab Omran quien logra unir los diferentes estilos musicales que han servido de inspiración a South Of Eden y canta con una contagiosa convicción.

Y lo que más me gusta de la música de South Of Eden es que a través de sus canciones queda claro cuánto se divirtieron al componerlas y grabarlas, hay alegría entretejida en cada uno de los temas pero no deja de ser un trabajo hecho con seriedad. Es música genuinamente buena a la que supieron adherirle la atmósfera de los buenos momentos que vivieron al hacerla. Y no solo eso lo que tanto me atrae de esta banda, sino también los riffs espectaculares que todas las canciones tienen. Este es up EP con apenas cuatro sencillos, The Talk, Solo, Morning Brew y Dancing With Fire, pero tenemos la fortuna de que acaban también de lanzar un segundo trabajo, otro disco que se titula The Talk Sessions y que contiene versiones acústicas y en vivo de tres de esos temas más una fantástica versión de Show Me How To Live de Audioslave.

Ante nosotros tenemos dos excelentes trabajos de una agrupación que ya está haciendo olas en el panorama musical actual y esto es con justa razón pues su estilo de hard rock es sobresaliente. Y si escribo acerca de South Of Eden es porque en realidad nos han traído algo especial y quiero darlo a conocer, pero por sobre todo, porque he pasado muy buenos momentos disfrutando de sus canciones y quiero que otros también lo puedan hacer. Originalmente se llamaban Black Coffee, pero en 2020 cambiaron su nombre a South Of Eden y ellos mismos se describen así:

“We’re a band that writes, records, and plays like the pioneers of rock before us. We aren’t looking to bring anything back, but instead to remind people what rock n roll means. No rules. This music represents what we believe is real, raw music. No click tracks and triggers or copy and paste bullshit. Just a bunch of hippies in a room.”

Como podemos ver, son una agrupación con una meta en mente y eso lo demuestran a través de sus canciones. Esa fidelidad a la razón que los hizo formar South Of Eden se ha filtrado a su música, que ha sido grabada con profesionalismo y verdadera entrega. La banda está compuesta por Ehab Omran en la voz y guitarra acústica, Justin Young en la guitarra principal y voces, Tom McCullough en la batería y Nick Fratianne en el bajo. Provienen de Columbus, en el estado de Ohio, Estados Unidos, pero su escenario merece ser a nivel mundial.

South Of Eden – The Talk (EP) (2020)

This is what I live for, to discover songs like those found in The Talk, South Of Eden’s first EP. Here is one of the main reasons why Música y Oxígeno exists, to promote songs that in all sincerity deserve to be heard by as many people as possible. This production is a marvel, plain and simple. They play a brand of classic rock that took inspiration from the hard rock of the late 1980s, with a sprinkle of blues and some early grunge, to that they added a generous dose of fun and along with the great way they play their instruments, we get brilliant music with a captivating rhythm as a result. At the forefront is the voice of Ehab Omran who manages to unite the different musical styles that have inspired South Of Eden as he sings with contagious conviction.

And what I like the most about the music of South Of Eden is that through their songs it is clear how much fun they had when composing and recording them, there is joy woven into each of the tracks. It is genuinely great music to which they also knew how to infuse the atmosphere of the good times they had while recording the EP. But there’s much more I love about to this band, like the spectacular riffs that all the songs have that make me want to headbang like there is no tomorrow. This is an EP with just four singles, The Talk, Solo, Morning Brew and Dancing With Fire, but fortunately they have also just released a second production, an EP called The Talk Sessions that contains acoustic versions and live performances from three of those songs plus a fantastic cover of Audioslave’s Show Me How To Live.

Before us we have two excellent records by a group that is already making waves in the current music scene and this is thanks to the fact that their own brand of hard rock is outstanding. And if I write about South Of Eden it’s because they have actually brought us something special and I want to talk about it, but above all, because I have had a great time enjoying their songs and I want others to be able to do it too. They were originally called Black Coffee, but in 2020 they changed their name to South Of Eden and they describe themselves like this:

As we can see, they are a band with a goal in mind and they show it through their songs. That commitment to the reason that made them form South Of Eden has seeped into their music, which has been recorded with true determination. The band is made up of Ehab Omran on vocals and acoustic guitar, Justin Young on lead guitar and vocals, Tom McCullough on drums and Nick Fratianne on bass. They hail from Columbus, in the state of Ohio, United States, but their stage deserves to be worldwide.
