Determinación, pasión y una entrega total son las características que primero percibimos al escuchar Aaj, pero a medida que avanza la canción también vamos descubriendo la unión de estilos diferentes que Bloodywood, una agrupación de Nueva Delhi, han sido capaces de juntar con una maestría digna de admiración.
Pero hay algo aún más importante acerca de Bloodywood y es que son una banda con una visión clara y tienen por meta ayudar a través de su música. Comprenden el poder que la música posee y han decidido emplearla para llevar un mensaje alentador a su público. La letra de Aaj, que significa «hoy» en hindi, está llena de positivismo e impulsa a quien la escucha a inspirarse para seguir adelante en la vida a pesar de los problemas y dificultades que se presentan. Incluso nos inspira a reinventarnos si eso es lo que necesitamos hacer. Dentro de esa envoltura de nu-metal hay un humano corazón que late y anhela por ser mejor cada día.
La letra del rap está en inglés mientras que el resto es cantado en hindi, su idioma natal y a su estilo incorporaron también una flauta y el dhol, que es un instrumento de percusión tradicional de la India. En otras palabras, estamos ante una maravillosa canción de folk-metal de la India que está haciendo olas en el mundo metalero. Y con justa razón pues sus integrantes se han esforzado y trabajado muy duro para hacer de su música algo único y con verdadero sentido y lo han mostrado a través de un documental llamado Raj Against the Machine, que está en su página oficial.
Aaj es el primer sencillo de su primer álbum, que se titula Rakshak y saldrá el 18 de febrero de 2022. Bloodywood está integrada principalmente por Karan Katiyar en la guitarra y flauta, Jayant Bhadula en las voces limpias y guturales y por Raoul Kerr en las voces de rap. Luego se unieron Sarthak Pahwa en el dhol, Roshan Roy en el bajo y Vishesh Singh en la batería. Lo curioso es que Bloodywood comenzó como un proyecto en el que Katiyar y Bhadula hacían versiones en metal de canciones tradicionales indias, comenzaron a tener éxito en YouTube y luego se adentraron a escribir su propia música. Enthusiasm, passion and complete devotion are the traits that we first perceive when listening to Aaj, but as the song progresses we also discover the fusion of different styles that Bloodywood, a band from New Delhi, have have skillfully put together.
But there is something even more important about Bloodywood and it’s that they are a band with a clear aim and their goal is to provide support through their music. They understand the power that music and lyrics have and decided to use them to bring an uplifting message to their audience. The lyrics of Aaj, which means «today» in Hindi, are full of positivism and encourage the listener to move forward in life despite the problems and hardships that appear. It even inspires us to reinvent ourselves when the need arises. Inside that nu-metal shell there is a human heart that beats and yearns to be better every day.
