Han pasado tan solo unos días del año 2022 y ya tenemos un listado de canciones que son dignas de escuchar una y otra vez y comenzaré con una que llevaba esperando a que fuera lanzada desde que la banda nos dio un pequeño adelanto en sus redes. Se titula Too Many Reasons y es de la agrupación polaca Glasspop, a quienes ya dediqué una entrada por su maravillosa canción Seven Broken Hearts, que me cautivó en 2020.

En Too Many Reasons nos traen su propio estilo de rock que toma como inspiración a Muse y White Lies y se inclinan por un sonido melódico, dulce y estilizado en el que con fluidez entrelazan los teclados, la guitarra y el bajo (que me encantó en este tema) mientras que la voz de Maverick, quien canta con la emotividad y pasión que lo caracterizan, está al frente. La batería también brilla y con su ritmo acompaña y guía el infeccioso ritmo. Los coros que cantan ohh, ohh, ohh hacia el final de la canción le dan una capa adicional que logra que nos identificamos todavía más con ella y son uno de mis detalles favoritos de Too Many Reasons, además de que también es una peculiaridad que se volvió propia de Glasspop pues pudimos también disfrutarla en su primer álbum, Stranger in the Mirror (2018), que es un trabajo que he estado escuchando una y otra vez y que con cada vuelta me gusta más.

Siguiendo con los instrumentos, la forma en la que combinaron las melodías en el teclado con la textura de las guitarras me hace recordar a la música de la década de los 80s y a la vez evidencian el gusto que tienen por la música de White Lies y lo digo como un merecido cumplido. Too Many Reasons es el primer sencillo de su nuevo álbum, The Eternal Kingdom of Self-Delusion, que será lanzado en abril de 2022 y luego de escuchar este primer sencillo, quisiera tenerlo ya en mis manos.

Glasspop está integrada por Marcin «Maverick» Kujawa en la voz y teclados, Piotr Tarnawski en el bajo, Maciej Zdanowicz en las guitarras y Daniel Maliszewski en la batería y son de Poznań, una de las ciudades más antiguas de Polonia y que también es un centro de su cultura.

Lo he dicho en más de una ocasión y lo vuelvo a repetir, Polonia es un país con una escena musical que clama por atención por la gran calidad de sus creaciones, que van desde el sublime post-rock de Besides hasta los bastiones del black metal que son Behemoth. Y a este listado agrego a Glasspop, que nuevamente demuestran que son una banda con una calidad que traspasa cualquier frontera.

Glasspop – Too Many Reasons (2022)

The year 2022 has just begun and we already have a list of songs that are worth listening to over and over again and I’ll start with one that I’ve been waiting to be released since the band gave us a little teaser on their social networks. It’s called Too Many Reasons and it’s from the Polish group Glasspop, to whom I already dedicated an entry for their wonderful song Seven Broken Hearts.

In Too Many Reasons they bring us their own style of rock that takes inspiration from Muse and White Lies and leans towards a melodic, sweet and stylized sound in which keyboards, guitar and bass are fluently intertwined while the voice of Maverick, who sings with the emotion and passion that characterize him, is at the forefront. The drums also shine and with their rhythm they accompany and guide the infectious rhythm. The choruses that sing ohh, ohh, ohh towards the end of the song give it an extra layer that makes us connect with it even more and is one of my favorite things about Too Many Reasons. It’s a signature touch of Glasspop and we were able to enjoy it from their first album, Stranger in the Mirror (2018).

Talking about the instruments, the way they combined the melodies on the keyboard with the texture of the guitars reminds me of the music of the 80s and at the same time displays the influence White Lies’ has on them, and I mean that as a well-deserved compliment. Too Many Reasons is the first single from their new album, The Eternal Kingdom of Self-Delusion, which will be released in April 2022 and after listening to this first single, I wish I could have it on my hands right now.

Glasspop are Marcin «Maverick» Kujawa on vocals and keyboards, Piotr Tarnawski on bass, Maciej Zdanowicz on guitars and Daniel Maliszewski on drums. They hail from Poznań, one of the oldest cities in Poland.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Poland is a country with a music scene that deserves attention for their creations rank among the best in the world, with bands that range from the sublime post-rock of Besides to the blackened death metal of Behemoth. And to this list I add Glasspop, who once again show that they are a band who are ready to take on the world.
